The North Carolina Council for the Social Studies is the voice of social studies for North Carolina teachers. We encourage all social studies teachers to join the NCCSS – the only state organization that represents all the disciplines under the social studies. NCCSS members become part of a statewide organization that advocates for social studies instruction in grades K-12. Membership also allows teachers to nominate a colleague for the NCCSS Social Studies Teacher of the Year award given each year to one teacher; and apply for a Teacher Grant for up to $1,000.00 to be used in the classroom. Members may also become a candidate for the NCCSS Board of Directors.
Membership in the North Carolina Council for the Social Studies is available in two ways:
- Membership included with conference registration, OR
- Membership independent of conference registration.
If you plan to attend our annual state conference, visit the conference page of our website for conference information and registration. Membership in the NCCSS runs from conference to conference (February – February)
If you wish to join the NCCSS without attending the conference, go to the registration page and select Council Membership Only
Thank you for choosing the NCCSS.
