The North Carolina Council for the Social Studies is the voice of social studies for North Carolina teachers. We encourage all social studies teachers to join the NCCSS – the only state organization that represents all the disciplines under the social studies. NCCSS members become part of a statewide organization that advocates for social studies instruction in grades K-12. Membership also allows teachers to nominate a colleague for the NCCSS Social Studies Teacher of the Year award given each year to one teacher and apply for a Teacher Grant for up to $1,000.00 to be used in the classroom. Members may also run for the NCCSS Executive Board.

Membership in the North Carolina Council for the Social Studies is available in two ways:

1. Membership included with conference registration, OR

2. Non-Conference Membership. See below

If you plan to attend our annual state conference, you do not need to purchase a separate membership.

Membership in the NCCSS runs from February to February.
